Polls and Headlines:Why are Voters memories so short?

Emotional roller coaster ride:
Republicans happy/Democrats Sad
Democrats Sad/Republicans Happy

Party today/mad tomorrow

Voters get wrapped up in the latest polls and Headlines and forget what happened just 9 months ago.

9 months from now no one will remember or care what the latest polls and headlines said Today.

Now You can use what I typed to attack what ever party you wish
But my question is

Why are voters memories so short. When it comes to politics?
 
Busy lives, overworked parents, overachieving kids, inability or unwillingness to get the news from more than one source--either too tired to do so or simply do not want to know any more than they have to. So...instead, listen to the issue of the moment--the soundbite sticks, and that's it. I'm not saying it's intentional--but we all have to wake up and take a closer look at things. If you doubt what one network or another says-man up and head to Thomas.gov and read legislation for yourself. Don't let someone else do all the interpreting for you. That's how a lot of legislation goes unchallenged. We accept the media's version--belittle anyone who objects to it, and then later find out there is much more to it than we thought.
 
It ain't just voters. It's the entire American public. It ain't just about politics. America has an attention span of about 10 days for any topic.
