"talking points"? Whether on line or in person, I often hear the same talking points that the Parties are trying to get across. When you ask further, often the people don't understand why that talking point is relevant.

Examples: McCain doesn't know how many houses he or his wife has (should disqualify him as President?).

Obama's middle name is Hussein (That makes him personally a threat?)

McCain would be 4 more years of Bush. (Only repeated by someone who knows NOTHING about McCain. The 90% voting with Bush was taken out of context as was the 100 years in Iraq. Most Republican Party leaders wanted anyone BUT McCain because he refuses to go along party lines)

Obama's wife and the question of if she is proud to be an American... The comment was totally twisted to make her seem unpatriotic.
Sorry, both sides use constant talking points that are often misleading and people just listen to the talking points instead of looking to see if they are accurate.

Yes, I hear you.

It's one of the reasons I don't even bother with like 99% of the political content of the internet--trolling aside, it's just too vacant, too void of meaningful content.

If all you're going to do is let your News Media of Choice dictate to you *what to "think"*, then why bother blathering about it?

Oh right, because you might feel threatened by others who *do their own thinking*. Blah.

We're people, not lemmings. We are supposed to be better than that.

But I guess that *thinking thingy* makes some people's brains ache too much or something. o_o

It's ok though. I did my own homework. I've had *eight years* to do my own homework. I know what I'm going to do, I'm not trollable about it, and I *think* I am making a good call here. *I know* I'm having to put my own ego aside and take a hit for my country to do this too.

I'm voting for the chemo....to save the nation from its cancer, the "Greed is Good" growth that Reagan implanted (and in fairness, he didn't think it would become *so* popular, and *so* out of control).

But hey. I get it. The Media has to do *something* to justify shoveling all of that *TV Spam* in our faces, right? If one side did the smart thing, saved their money, *gave up and went home*, there'd be no show. And god forbid if there wasn't a damned show, you know?

God forbid if someone gave their Jedi Mind Tricks a rest, you know? ^_^ Because then some One Percenter "have more" might lose a speck of *dust* on his pennies on the dollar for his trouble.

But hey, what do I know? I just live here. I'm just a citizen. It isn't like I *matter* to this society, is it? ^_^ *lol*

Good point, my man.....I read what u said to my bf...he said "That is true".....he is a Republican....(I am A Democrat)

I agree. Most people are too lazy to do research about the candidates. So, they rely on who claims to be Republican or Democrat, and vote based upon that. The only points they will argue with are ones they've heard off of the biased media, because they haven't actually looked up the facts for themselves.

Most people, the candidates and media in particular, want the public to focus on those talking points because, although irrelevant, they distract from the facts and get people focused on the negatives of the opponent.

However, that can make arguing with those types of people quite fun, because if you have actual facts, they will run out of "talking points" and resort to getting angry and calling you a "poo-poo head".

That actually happens to me quite often...and not just with politics.

You are correct. I keep hearing the same thing over and over. I try not to even discuss politics though. I'm not going to change anyone's mind and they are not going to change mine, so why get all hot and bothered for nothing.

I rightly don't care what others think of the candidates. I form my own opinions of the and go with the lesser of the 2 evils. Or as I said before, if no one sounds good I'll write in Bugs Bunny. LMAO

I honestly don't get the point you're trying to get across here in this question
oh..exactly..but it seems like the people are the ones keeping what really matters from the screens rather than what matters. The media is so stuck on so many other things that it is very hard to actually see what they actually stand for.
