Poll: Rad problem or not? What year if you had one?

My curiousity got peaked with the other thread from a member that wants to send a petition to Ducati about the rad problem on some bikes.

So here we go, unscientific yes, but hopefully enlightening nonetheless.

For the sake of the poll I'm going to lump in 848/1098/1198

Took mine in last week for the leak. Upper left mount tab. Picking it up today. The shop here in Houston has several bikes in for the same problem. Should be a recall in my opinion.

Good poll Jules. I like it. My rad took a long time to go(12,000 miles) and was replaced but after finding out that Ducati still hasn't upgraded the rads to eliminate the problem, I think perhaps pushing to get it as a re-call might be in order.

The voltage regulator was put down as a re-call and I bet there are just as many people who have had the rad go as the VR. I bought the extended warranty when I bought the bike so I'm god for many more years but others might not be as fortunate.

I can't imagine them doing a recall. Why would they do that? It would much easier for them to wait until they fail and then replace them as it happens. As they are doing now.
Isn't a recall more necessary and appropriate for safety reasons only?

My dealer in Houston--Eximport--said there is a new part # superceding the old part # for the new radiator--he thinks it's a part redesign.

Here's hoping. The new radiator will be warrantied from 2 years of replacement, so at least warranty repairs get another 2 years from that point...
