Revenge-the dish that's best served cold
Avenging senseless death, that story's old
What is the true price for one so bold?
Vengeance only brings you more pain
When felt guilt, to me you can't complain
The wicked will pay and the righteous rewarded
If one goes forth with similar sin, a plan be thwarted
If let sit and nature's course sweeps along
A murderous heart let's out a different song
As each beat heightens and stabs his being
It slowly tortures him and what he is seeing
Will be the saddest end to anyone's fall
And that is the sweetest revenge of all
But the knowledge that says you could
The nerve to know you would
And the strength to know what you should
They beckon you and make you the bigger person
Can you honestly live with this kind of immersion?
Again, a guilty heart beats and drowns out reason
You weren't evil, yet death be the coldest season
What purpose will be served by such a heinous act?
Closure you'll not see with Godly and morally broken pact
Should you demote yourself and stand with the cause?
Will you swallow your pride and retract your claws?
Perhaps you would rather be insane and stand alone
Until you've realized the stakes and finally grown
