i think people that are, are because they are under the false impression that making drugs illegal will make people not do them. Two europeans visited my high school a while ago and told us (and to my question) they don't get drunk with their friends, that's not something that people do in europe, because they grew up with it being legal and it wasn't a big deal.
Now my opinion on people voting for the drug war is not just unintelligent but is criminal, there are billions of dollars uselessly being spent on trying to tell people what they can do with their own bodies, that could be spent on rehabilitation or any number of things... anything!
and this is aside from the fact that a true democracy government should have no right to tell its people what they can and can't put into their bodies. by this logic fast food, alcohol, and tobacco should be illegal.
