Polishing Bike

Two questions:

1. Does anyone have any tips or hand-holding walkthroughs on how to polish up metal parts on your bike. (For a mechanical Newbie)

2. Does anyone have pics of their 848-1098 with a polished swingarm? or any other polished parts?

I was thinking about doing this to my swingarm, and wanted to get an idea of what it would look like.

Thanks in advance, Eager to see the pictures.

Don't do it, unless you want to constantly polish it to keep it shiny. Too much work in my opinion, but if you really want to do it, all you need is a lot of sand paper of different grit, polish, several rags and a lot of hours. There are many instructions on the internet so if you do a google search you will find it. I prefer chroming versus polishing.

I polished my R1 and it looked great; but whenever it rained and I didn't fully dry the bike, it would start rusting, so I had to keep it dry and constantly polish it. Too much work in my opinion.

I polished the aluminium wheels on my other bike; BE WARNED! they're constant work to keep the shine on them as aluminium tarnishes easily.

Another point to consider is that if you ever scratch that shiny new swingarm, then it's back to the polishing venture all over again. Scratching a brushed surface requires little more than a brush/nylon mop or wheel and a Dremmel.

Ok so I think I got it that Polishing is not the best, at least until I hit the lottery, retire, and all the kids are out of the house.

That being said, Does anyone have pics of their Chromed Ducati Parts?

Not to bust your balls, but, it is a DUCATI. Not a ghetto sled. I don't think you are going to find too many with "Chromed Ducati Parts?" around here. More of a performance oriented crowd.

The only one I've seen is the Gixxerboys 1098.

Some like..... others dont. It is a show bike I suspect

And for those that get upset by this...
This Picture will help you like it more.

Having grown up in the hood when I was young. If I had unlimited resources. I would chrome out everything I can, and even put spinners on it just for spite.

"They spinnin N ... They spinnin"

Luckily for all of us I dont have unlimited resources, and I just was curious to see how one looked. Hell while on the topic, Anyone have any pics of their swing armed, Anodized, PowderCoated, Bedazzled, or w/ Body Glitter?
