I have decided to become a police officer, but i have a few questions for anyone who can help. First off, i am currently getting my assoiciates degree. I finish in 2 semesters and then plan to go to get my BS in CJ. Should i finish my degree before applying to any departments or would it be wise to get into a department and then get my degree as an officer? Also, I am highly interested in joining a specialized unit. Most preferable would be either homicide or violent crimes. How long would it take to join a specialized unit? If I promote to a higher ranking such as sergeant or detective, would i still be in this specialized unit? Sorry for all the questions, have alot on my mind. Thanks.
