Pokemon Emerald is failing with the bike............ can someone help me?

OK heres how it goes
I'm in slateport
I try to mount my bike
it says I can't dismount
I go to the city where u get the bikes
I switched it
still happening
HELP!!!!!!
AND I WANT NO-ONE SAYING STUFF LIKE USE MANGEKO SHARNIGAN!!!!!!!
