Nightmusic, a poem is NOT written because one would like to make a comment in order to gain a reaction.
A poem is a free thing not wanting, not needing, not being anything but loyal to its' own integrity, and need.
If, you know that your family has the tendency to not hear, or pay attention to what you have to say, why then, defile the very nature of art, for ONLY art's sake??
Write poetry because the need, the purpose is to EXPRESS, then allow that expression gain the merit it may deserve.
Do not waste THROUGH art, a painful, perhaps even resentful response - WRITE only because something inside which is FREE, calls THAT you must.
Separate the need to talk from the need to express. There is a difference between the two.
Do not diminish what is a favour, or a gift, which in this case you tell about is poetry.
I am not frequent here anymore, I have moved on. That has been a necessity of mine. The reasons; well, I do not have to expose to a vast forum.
But I came to your question to tell you not to waste what may in time, and practise and not as a tool, become precious for its' own sake.

I wrote my first poem because the people in my house were talking to each other and ignoring me. I just wanted to be included but they didn't want me. So I wrote a poem to get their attention. It just happened to be good. So I wrote more. But I didn't really want to write. I wanted to talk. Do you relate to this at all?
