Life is not a game

Guest
I got a card in the mail asking me to send a certain poem to a lady because she said it touched her soul.
It has not been published so there isn't a copyright on it, I was told that I should snail mail it to myself and keep the envelope unopened and put up somewhere safe?

I just want to share the poem freely not make a profit someday with my writings. Am I being overly gracious about it?

you could ask the woman to sign a contract to not reproduce anything, you could just put the copyright logo on it. Most people don't look things up. Honestly, I think you will be fine. If she's a fan, she won't claim it as her own. What a great compliment though, that would just make me all warm inside haha.

What if you sign th poem and give it to the lady, that way if you become rich and famous, it will be worth a lot more to her..just an idea!!

make sure you sent it to yourself certified.... <legal>

I guess it's up to you and your heart...?????

Either mail it to yourself or send it in to your local paper and see if they'll publish it. If they do, you can send her a copy.
