such grave faces are these brown trees,
harsh winter winfs strung upon lyres of icy hail and rain
extirpate leaves as the coming night blows out this blazing candlelight
that gave me hope for what winter robbed from me
stripping their bark off all conscious thought
leaving me without a branch to cling to
in yet,
during spring when flowers blossom colorful splendor
whilst rivers run with love and care and compassion
maybe, just maybe
the sweet song of the nightingale will grace the morning air
with a new sense of furtutious wonder
I shall listen with my heart
awaiting the day til those grave faces
bathe in plentous green
and smile.
