Poem "Guilty" what you think?

You lay in bed,
And listened to me yell,
Was something wrong,
You never could tell.

Well, you knew the extent,
Of my daddy’s wrath,
You saw it all,
That day on our footpath.

You saw how,
I needed your help,
But you just slept,
Through that painful yelp.

But now it gone,
No thanks to you,
I’m beaten down,
All black and blue.

You’ll live with guilt,
For what you never did,
I’m just a child,
Just a kid.

I know your old,
Frail and slow,
But the worst thing was,
You did know.

As much to blame,
Frail and slow,
Is no excuse,
Because you do know.

You learned your lesson,
You shouldn’t lie,
You learned when you heard,
That painful cry.

But each night,
You just stay there in your soft bed,
Peacefully resting,
Your guilty head.
