plugging 5.1 channel headset on onboard sound card?

Can i plug 5.1 channel headset on the stock onboard soundcard on my motherboard? I think it is just a normal soundcard not 5.1.
what if the headset have usb plug? btw i only have 3 plugs on my soundcard 1 for mic.
 
if your sound card only supports 2.1, then you cannot plug in your 5.1 channel headset because it requires the green(front, black(rear), and orange(center) speaker plugs. just look in the back of your sound card to see how many ports and what color they are
