PLS HELP ME ON MY PROBLEMS REGARDING SONY VEGAS PRO 9?

i just have this problem with sony vegas pro 9. when i will put video FX on a picture or on a video, it results to this:

there is like a "square" part which is not affected by the video fx that i put. pls help me ;)
