Hello all,
I have not posted in sometime, although I try to keep up with everyone by reading your posts. I had my hardware removed on Monday. I had a plif l4-l5 w/bmp in May of 07. i started having increased pain after about week 6 of the PLIF. My original surgeon wanted to remove the hardware back in Sept, after only 4 months of recovery. I started seeing a new surgeon, nuerosurgeon and he put me on a bone stimulator. My last CT showed that the lateral graft was fused, but that the actual fusion between the discs' are not completely fused. He said that it is what it is, and that is the best It will be???? That is why we went ahead with the hardware removal, he has stated the hardware removal might lessen my pain, and that it was no longer having any effect to spinal stabilization. He has said that it will take 4-6weeks of recovery to see if there is any improvement with the hardwre removal. I am in BIG pain right now, i actually feel worse right now than I did after the PLIF. I know it is not, but ouch!!! I am soooo sore. I see my Dr this Mon for post-op follow-up. i will let you all know what he says,
Thanks

Lisa I pray that the hardware removal is the answer to your pain. Unfortunately it was not for me. good luck and please keep us posted.

Lisa,
Keep us posted. I had my surg 4 months after you. I had dynamic stabilization at l4 and L5, and fusion with bmp at l5 and s1. I have never gotten any pain relief. I'm beginning to wonder if its the hardware. Hope you do well.
