I've just seen the trailer for the remake of Fame, or should I call it "High School The Musical 4!!!". OMG, it looks like they've totally killed it!

Even the "Fame" track made famous by Irene Cara has been covered as crappy R n'B track.

I'm getting really sick of these remakes from Hollywood. They must be writers out there with new creative ideas, looking for work that they are pushing to one side so they can start filming a remake of film that's only five years old!!

Jesus, there now looking at remaking The Fugitive, Leon (aka The Professional) and Robocop. Why???

Give us new films Hollywood and not remakes!

Ahh, feel better for that rant. Time for another cup of coffee. ;)

I have to agree too.

If you're going to remake stuff, why not start all the way back, like in the 50's etc? Why remake films that are hardly past their prime?

The problem is that the remakes make money for the studios; people go and see them.

If no one went to see the remakes, then Hollywood would have to think again.

Whilst we would like to think of film making as an art, for a studio it is a business. They are there to make money for their shareholders.

If they carry on with remakes at the rate they are currently doing, it won't be that long before people tire of it. You would think they would realise by now that remaking a popular film almost never works.

I like what they did with the FF movies. They aren't deep or overly meaningful but they're cute and harmless. I don't see the need to re-boot the franchise again. FF is meant to be more light-hearted than other superhero franchises so I don't know what they'd do differently without changing it into something it isn't supposed to be.

I think the issue with films like Fantastic Four is that Marvel are slowly clawing the rights to their own characters back to remake them all extremely well (if filoms like Iron Man, Hulk etc) are any indication..... Marvel will fire loaRAB of films out over the next few years and some of them will be remakes.

But the issue of remaking for remaking sake is getting ridiculous, Fame? Nightmare on Elm Street? etc etc

I've accepted defeat with all these remakes. They're the future. Hollywood has had it. We should swallow some aspirin and embrace it. In fact, I'm about to pen a heartfelt letter to L.A. begging for remakes of Zulu, Alien, Aliens, The Godfather, Goodfellas and Citizen Kane. In for a penny....

I wish Brand would drop dead, Fred.

Remakes are never good news. The way things are going I might just shun watching Hollywood blockbusters and immerse myself in British films and independent cinema... The type that produces films with subtitles.

Death at a Funeral which only came out 16 months ago is already being remade with Peter Dinklage playing the same character.

I have the feeling that the American version will be a lot less funny.

and also with talk of remakes of back to the future and Butch cassidy and the sundance kid I'm about ready to give up the whole 'watching new films' and stick to my dvRAB..or even worse..start to enjoy daytime tv..anything would be better than watching some 'in the moment' actor murdering a good film
