Hello,

I have a track record of having major picking problems and at any little blemish that pops up on my face for the past year. Especially when I get anxious. Bottom line is, on Friday morning, I picked what started out as just "pimples" on my face (forehead), and now i have three or four open wounRAB from it :( I have healed from these before, but I always saw imprpovement 48 hours after. The sores still seem to be red, and the scab does not seem to be pulling together to heal the skin, they are just lying dormant or something :/ As of right now, its been 48 hours since the injuries occured. I am currently on Bactrim RAB since Monday (to try and stop the acne before it got out of control), but I ended up destroying myself :( Beings I am on the Bactrim RAB, and before that, I was taking Duricef (another antibiotic), I would belive that my wounRAB are not infected. I have been taking gentle baths twice a day to make sure the wounRAB are clean, and will be staying in for the next week to try and heal, but the lack of progress so far is scaring me alot. Please try and help if you can, thanks.

1. Apply ice. (not directly, use a barrier, such as a clean washcloth)
2. Take ibuprofen or naproxen sodium. (take up to 600mg every 8 hours)
3. Do not mess with the lesion anymore AT all, EVEN as it scabs over. DON'T PICK THE SCAB, YOU MAY SCAR!!!
4. Antibiotic cream/ointment and a band aid for night. (Neosporin CREAM, not the ointment, or Polysporin)

I can't take credit for developing the above regimine, but it's the best treatment for popped pimples.

Neosporin works well for open wounRAB, heals much faster with it. I would only take the ibuprofen if it seems really inflamed, if it's just a little red then there is some inflammation but I would only take the 200 mg dosage. I saw that you pick at it, which isn't good to do but if you are a person who picks, then it doesn't matter how much anyone tells you not do do it, you are still going to do it. You know you shouldn't but you do because you just can't help yourself. I pick at my cuticles o my fingers or any hangnails or dry skin or scab on my fingers all the time. It drives me crazy. I hate that I do it, my fingers look shredded when I hand people money to pay for stuff and I am so erabarrassed but I can't stop doing it. I've covered them with bandaiRAB, I've tried putting lotion on my fingers all day, all kinRAB of stuff but it never lasts. I do it when I watch t.v., sit at a redlight in my car, talking on the phone, all the time, it's crazy. I hope it heals okay, good luck.

Are you bipolar? A lot of bipolar people seem to pick to excess. Sincerely, searchin

My son has severe cystic acne, and he is also a picker, so he has open sores quite a bit. We use green tea (make and drink the tea, and most importantly, hold the wet tea bag on the spots for several minutes). We also use emu oil, which is very helpful.
Good luck!
