Please recommend a phone, requirements in post

For features all I want is for the phone to be able to play music as well as take a memory card so I can have a lot of space. I want to be able to transfer ringtones and pictures off and onto my phone with a USB cable without having to hack the phone.

I prefer slim clamshell phones but am open to other options.

I tried a razor K1m from Verizon and took it back because it had many things I did not like. What I did not like about this phone was I had to pay Verizon extra for headphones that fit in their special jack, which I felt was just a way to get more money from me even though I have my own headphones that I already like. Also every feature on the phone seem to proceeded with BUY IT NOW option, like any time I wanted to do anything they were trying so so so hard to get me to just purchase it from them. The instructions in the manual to get music on the phone was to use their service to purchase music and did not even tell you how to get music off your PC. Unacceptable. The last straw was I could not figure out how to move pictures off my phone onto my PC without emailing them to myself or ring tones onto my phone without buying them from verizon even though the phone was DIRECTLY connected to my PC via USB cable. Also I read Verizon had motarola cripple the OS/Software on the phone to turn features off so people had to use more of Verzion's Get it Now service or whatever it is. Returned it.

I checked out the cingular LG CU500. I have heard mixed reviews. It sounded cool because you can use it as a mass storage device on your PC with the memory card. The phone felt kind of cheap when I got my hands on it but it has a lot of the features I want at least on paper. Again like verizon they were using non standard cables, their USB cable has a weird plug so you must buy theirs and they were charging $40 for their kit even though I have plenty of USB cables at home. I told the guy showing me the phone forget it if they were going to nickel and dime me like that.

If you went to go buy a PC or notebook and all memory, mice, cables speakers, attachments, printers, software, etc had to be purchased through the PC manufacture at 4x the cost AND you could not use anything you had at home that normally works with a PC you would be pissed too right? Why is it acceptable for cellular phone companies to do business this way? This is turning into a rant sorry.

So can anyone recommend any phones that once you buy them they allow you to use said features on the phone without having to purchase special cables, special headphones, and all ringtones etc through cellular phone company?

Thanks for your help.
