I have a little bit of a dilemma. My fiancee's parents and my mother and stepdad were extremely close and even went on vacation together. On February 20th, my 55 year old father suffered a massive fatal stroke and passed away. In the next few days the stress was so high, I said some things to people that I did not mean. Including my mother,whom I love very much, who had divorced my father in a bitter divorce in 2000 and subsequently moved down to Florida in 2003. My fiancee's family was protective of me, let me stay at their house for the week, instead of being alone at my apartment at the time and I vented to them about personal family issues( which I shouldn't have) and they decided to cut off contact to my family.I've apologized to both sides for my behavior. In the past few months my mother has tried multiple times to call, send flowers, and email my fiancee's mother all of which haven't been returned or responded to. My mother called me this morning screaming at me saying " You better not marry her, how dare her family pretend like we don't exist, you must have bad-mouthed us to them, like you did in February" and then hung up on me. I should also include that my fiancee's mother is very friendly, but is an extremely self-involved and pushy person.
How do I handle this?
