I have a younger sister(18years old) who is extremely talented in the sport (tennis she's been playing for 8 years). She's so talented that, 9 of the top 10 coaches in the country who have seen her, say she has the talent to turn pro right now if she worked hard. She travels around and plays against the top girls in the country. Everyone is amazed when they see her play, and they wonder why she hasn't turned pro yet. But when it comes to tournament play, she cracks under pressure, its like she doesn't even know how to hit a ball. In fact ,you can tell she doesn't put her hardest out, she even admits it and doesn't know why she does it. You can tell she isn't confident in her skills when she starts to compete even though everyone says she has the talent.
Its frusturating because she works so damn hard on her own before tournament play. To the point her coach tells her to relax a little bit. She's constantly begging her parents to take her out a play. And talks constantly about tennis. I don't know how she can work so hard then give up when the pressure hits. We've never put pressure on her to play its been her own choice, I don't get it? And she ends up hating herself when she fails and get in deep depression mode, then 2 days later she's ready to compete again. People tell her maybe she needs to quit the sport and try something else. BUT our family believes in god given talents and this talent was definitely given from god(no dought a lot of it is all natural). And its her only real talent. We don't believe in burying your talents. Based on the parable (religous stuff). What should we do? Should she just give up? I know she loves the sport and want to turn pro by all the hard she does on her own. But when she competes she doesn't try her best and looks scared. All I want is for her to try her best but she doesn't do that. What should we do?
sorry fo misspelled words
