Here is the scenario...

I currently have a Moto e815 with VZW which has been deemed defective. So VZW gave me a few options.

1. replace with either a new moto e815 or lg vx8100
2. get out of contract with no ETF

What I may or may not want is either upgrade to a palm treo 650, 700 or the VZW 6700. thoughts between those 3 phones??? I would accomplish this buy selling a ***NEW*** e815 or lg8100 and buying any of those 3 phones for retail.

Now this is where i need some help. the cingular 8125 looks like the real deal and has everyhthing i want in a phone (i heard that the processor is slow, is this true????), and i can sell a slightly used moto for approx 150 and use that towrds the purchase of the 8125.

What do I do? Or do i wait for the Q, ehhhhhhhhh help me???

well evdo is a technology and mda is a phone. evdo stands for evolution data only . The mda is a new smartphone for Tmobile

get out of contract then decide on a phone. The money you save by avoiding ETFs will more than make up having to buy a phone out of pocket, then when you see a really cool phone you know you want, you can hop into a new contract and save boatloads, or just buy the phone outright and stay free and clear.

GSM moto Q will be a while
I think Verizon / Sprint Moto Q will be a while as well
I seriously can't stand the Treo line, so I can't personally reccommend it.

The MDA is a cool phone, but you will be on EDGE (which is a slower data speed than Ev-DO) and if you utilize a bunch of extra services from Verizon (music videos, TV clips, etc.) you might miss the high speeds and the options with other providers.

First step though should be to get out of contract. Unless you only have like 3 months on it and could hold out, more than likely something cool will come out and it WONT be on Verizon

You can move numbers across service providers, so its no biggie. If you get out of contract (I know tmo and cingular do this) you just pay month to month, then transfer numbers. I was on the big V until middle of '04 and then moved to tmobile because they had a better plan (and I needed a universal phone). I have kept the same number throughout.

I personally don't like the Palm operating system. The Treo keypad is WAY too small as a QWERTY keypad for me. The spacing and construction of the keys do not lend themselves to easy TXTing for me. I like the Sidekick's keypad, the 9500 and the vx6700.

Reading up on the Treo (both Palm and Windows) there seems to be a lot of software that is needed to get the phone "right" so you will be making a number of tweaks out of the box.

Again, it's a presonal bias towards the Treo. Other than the blackberry the Treo is the top selling "smartphone" here in the states. I am definately in a minority here, but Windows or Palm I don't particularly care for the treo
