Please help :(

Ahhhhh. Where to begin? I hope I've hit the right place!!!!! Please help. I have seen 4 doctors, god knows how many nurses and six months later I am still ill. My symptoms started off with:

2/3 periods of having flu / cold back in October (fever, night sweats, sneezing, chest infection). I developed during this period a swollen lymph node on my throat. My breasts became tender, along with under my arms. I found a lump in my left breast and I am STILL waiting for a referal. I also developed a feeling that someone was pressing down on my chest, in my right ear and my nose felt numb and I have been having lapses of memory loss.

In December, my period was two weeks late and by January I went back to my doctors to chase up my referral and investigate my lymph nodes. After a few initial misdiagnosis (acid reflex they said!!) I was given anti biotics (one weeks worth) for a bacterial infection. This improved the situation slightly, but my lymph nodes in my throat remained huge.

In March, my period was on time, but very light. Yet two weeks later I had a heavy period. I now am experiencing a bad bout of thrush. The pressure in my ears, nose and ear remained, and now, today I have discovered a lump on my neck.

When I referred this to the nurse, she told me I have a swollen lymph node. I have also developed a headache over the last few days that is constant, relieved only by paracemol.

Over the last 2-3 weeks I've experienced a loss of appetite and have have bouts of pain from what the doctors believe to be gall stones.

I have been having nightmares that this is my last chance to resolve these issues and I am desperate for a resolution.

I am going back to the doctors (Again!) tomorrow, and will be pushing for my ultra sound scan.

How old are you? Do you have any underlying illnesses? Do you smoke? When you press on the mass in your neck, does it hurt? Were you diagnosed with the flu? Treated? Are you on any other medications?

I am sorry you are such a mess and no one can figure it out! Because we have no clue what testing you have had done or what the findings were there isn't much we can add. All I can say is to be sure you have had your thyroid blood workup and that you have had the cancer screening blood work and that you have had a mammogram you can get a mammogram on your own. You say you are still waiting for a referral? to what? This is where you need to be proactive and start calling the doctors office and speaking to either the doctors nurse or his business office and keep calling with your request for the referral. If you know what doctor he is referring you to perhaps they will see you without that referral. Once you leave a doctors office you are 'out of sight out of mind'...your chart is filed away and no one knows what has been promised to you so start calling the office and in general be a pest until they pull your chart and see what the doctor/nurse promised to do or at the very least give you a name to call and refer yourself. I am not sure what all doctors you have seen but pick one that you liked the best and keep going back until they do something for you to clear up your thrush..probably caused by the antibiotic. I might also say that a weeks worth of antibiotic didn't clear up the chest infections so you need to go back and tell them that. All your symptoms can also point to GERD...or H Pylori which can also cause a lot of pain and symptoms(blood work for H pylori can tell you). Just be the biggest nicest pest you can be until they know you are serious about finding answers. I have walked in your shoes so good luck to you it is extememly frustrating!

Hi guys thank you for your reply. I am 25 years old. I have just come back from hospital (5am UK time) and am currently still feeling shaken and faint. I started noticing a rash all over my body this evening (goes white when glass is put over it) so I phoned NHS direct and they sent me straight to hospital for tests. I had a blood test today (they did not do a thyroid test for some unknown reason!!) but said my liver and kidney function was good. They have also tested me for glandular fever but I wont find that out the results until tomorrow. He also did an eye test (shining lights into my eyes and looking into them using some contraption) and said all was ok, and a muscle reaction test.

My blood pressure was low 99 /? compared to my blood pressure two weeks ago which gave me a figure of around 106 / 108 over ?.

I've chased my doctor for a referal RE: breast lump and they have given me a consultant name so I can now start chasing this up with my insurance company.

I still feel sick, I've got a 'ringing' feeling in my right ear, I feel faint and I get periods where the nails on my toes are starting to go blue through poor circulation. If its not glandular fever I feel like Im back at the beginning again.

Hi all,

Just a quick update. I had my breast checked and was given the all OK. I also have had my blood test results back and been told that both my normal blood test and glandular fever blood tests came back normal.

Feel we're back to square one. Any ideas?
:)

Thanks again for your help.
