...drastically changed? I am 18 just graduated living at home going to school. Right now I am taking my last prereq. for the program I am planning to take. So last year around this time I filled out my FAFSA. Just recently my Mom got laid off. My Dad's company has taken a 15% pay cut. Which has affected everything. There is no way we can pay for my college now.
So before I was not eligable for any grants or help. Now I don't know if I still will be or not. I thought your parents had to make less thatn $40,000 a year but my Dad will still make more than that. What can I do? Say I live w/ my friend and get no help from my parents? Is that illegal? I have called around about student loans and the interest rates are outrageous. Why am I getting punished? My parents aren't rich and can't just give me $5000 + $$$'s whenever I ask.
