please help!!!!!! weird situation?

some one sold me gerbils and parakeets and they came in the same cage....

she said the gerbils and parakeets were bondend but i wasent sure about it.

so i separated the gerbils form the parakeets and they litterally got depressed and hardly did anything.

than i put them back together and there very happy
but some people told me you cant mix animals in the same cage.

so what do i do?
-p.s. the parakeets acctually stopped eating when they were separated from the gerbils.

that is really odd, like really odd. i want to see a pic of this if you have time and don't mind. REALLY WEIRD! ill check back on this 2morrow!
 
Whoa that is so weird.
They shouldn't be in the same cage. Birds can get diseases from rodents. But you don't want them to die of depression.
Try putting them in separate cages and keeping the cages next to each other where they can see each other.
I wouldn't put them back together.
 
Now although people say diverse animals don't mix, I'm not one to completely believe that.
We as humans are classified as animals ourselves and we mix fine with other animals. After all it is said a dog is a man's best friend.
I know others will probably argue that we are intelligent animals whom hold many complex features that other animals do not possess.
However...we are still animals!
I think you should leave them together. It sounds to me they like the company of each other.
If they do well together for a long time without attacking each other, then I think this might be a "weird but cool" story for you to tell the news about :-)
