I recently moved my fish and 29 gallon tank 250 miles up north. The water up here is very hard. It's been a few weeks and five of the fish (all of the tetras) have developed larger red dots that seem to be internal and that disappear, then come back. Then, some cloudy white stuff started to appear on the bottom of the tank. It seemed almost gel-like and it kept spreading. One day the fish appeared to be at the surface almost gasping for air! We quickly did a 95 percent water change and they appeared to be okay again. But today the red lesions/dots/parasites/whatever it is, are back and now they also have tiny white dots all over their fins! (they seem okay as far as swimming and breathing goes) What is going on? What can I do? Thank you in advance!
I have five tetras, two loaches, one cory, and one plecostomus (suckermouth catfish) in there currently. Some of the fish are as old as seven years. if that helps when identifying medicines or courses of action!
