I recently did a lab where I had a metal ramp and put different materials over the ramp (paper, saran wrap, aluminum foil, fleece blanket and sandpaper). Then I measured how long it took for a toy car to travel the length of the ramp (1 meter).
I'm having a lot of trouble calculating the friction that the different materials had. I'm only in grade 10 so I found a lot of the explanations online to be extremely confusing. If someone could give me a formula I could use and explain it in an easy to understand way that would be amazing.

Basically, what I want to know is how do you calculate/measure friction's effect on velocity?
