Hiya!

i have had a black moor for over 2 years now and he has been absolutly fine. its only recently, that hes been sinking to the floor of his tank, on his side a little bit, and looking really miserable not doing anything. i was advised to give him bits of chopped up peas to help him and it worked and he was fine.

but now, he has started to do it again, but only this time he has some weird kind of growths on his head. its almost like tiny blisters...i cant really explain. what i do no, is that it was only on his right side of his head and its moved over to the left - so i definitly know that whatever it is, its spreading.

can anyone tell me, or give me any advice on what this is and if its treatable? thank you for your help! xx

Sounds like ich to me too. But here's the issue, ich is usually a sign of stress and not the cause. Have you tested the water with your water testing kit? You do have one, right? You've probably got high nitrates but without the kit, who knows.

Head to the pet store, bring a little cup full of your tank's water and they'll test it for you. While you're there buy a testing kit so you can test again as you correct the situation and pick up whatever chemical you need to correct the situation from what they tell you when they test your water. Pick up some ich treatment too.
