thank you in advance for any advice or sugestions :)

so my grandmother has had this horrible cough for about 10 years now. she has been to multiple specialist to try resolve it but most of them say it acid reflux. she spent almost two years taking medication for acid reflux and it didnt help at all.
she says there isnt a burning that you would get with acid reflux either. So basically the specialists she seen had never seen this before.

It comes and goes. sometimes she will go 6 months without having a cough at all, then it comes for a couple months. When the cough comes it starts of as a little "itch" at the back of the throat and it gets worse and worse as time goes, eventually making her neck, ears, jaw sore/bruised from coughing so much.
then after it peaks at its worst point it seems to disapear for a couple months(anywhere from 2-6).

so im asking for some help. if anyone knows any ways to sooth the cough, or even cure it? any tips or tricks? Thank you.

aditional info:
-she beleives theres an ulcer/cyst in her throat that gets inflamed causing this.
- almost always starts to make her cough when she eats.
- once and a while it comes with a hot drink.
- after talking alot.
- definatly not an allergy(went to all the allergenic).
- doesnt change if laying down or sitting up.

Hi Has an Eye Ear Nose throat specialist been consulted over the last 10 years? Sometimes a post nasal drip is said to cause a throat tickle in the back of the throat causing a cough?

Has she ever had a stroke? I know a couple people who had chronic cough from that.

If she is truly bothered by GERD scarring may have occurred and therefore maybe nothing would change things. I would be trying the heating pad trick being aware that overuse for hours at a time might cause a headache. If she tries it and it works I would be interested to know for the sake of others.

A person could finish with an ice cube dry it and rest for the night. Have a nice day!

yes shes seen three Eye Ear Nose throat specialists. they say "there is a cyst there but thats not the problem".
she has never had a stroke.

anyone else?

Hi there are some fairly well known antiviral herbs that can be used. A friend of mine chewed garlic after having a sore throat 4 weeks and got better. Hers may have been bacterial but according to some sources it may help viral problems also. Goldenseal has been said by some to be useful but should not be used long term (maybe no more than 10 days I am unsure). Bay leaf teas were used in the old days for small pox and if I felt I had a bothersome virus I might try it every 6 hours for a while to see if it helps.

yes it is old cough and its too dangerous . you have to use some herbal products when i had i used some herbal liquid for cough.
