Hello & thanks for reading. I just purchased a used 98 dodge ram 1500 automatic truck. It runs great & the transmission works fine when putting into drive, etc....HOWEVER, I noticed today when driving for the first time on the interstate, that when I reached a high speed (around 70 mph), the transmission seemed to take a few seconds to change to a lower speed after I took my foot off the accelerator.
Is this normal? Do truck transmissions usually take a few seconds (about 5-10) to shift into lower speed when you let off the accelerator. It only did this at high speed. At low speed it was fine & didn't seem to delay to shift into lower speed. On the way back home I kept it under 65 & it didn't do it anymore.
Also, I checked the trans fluid when I got home. It was a little low (not much), so I added some ATF+4 fluid. I haven't driven it since adding fluid.
Is this normal for trucks, or could it be a problem with the trans? Thanks in advance!
