Be brutal. Boring? Bland? Average? Or good stuff? Interesting? Shows that I care? Vivid?
The essay question is, how did you first hear about Franklin & Marshall and why do you want to go?

One afternoon, I read an email describing a multicultural leadership summit at a college in which I was unfamiliar in an area in which I was impartial. I pictured my future college to be in a big city with myriad choices and adventures, not in n Amish area with nothing to do. After speaking with my counselor who nominated me for the experience, I decided to explore the foreign land. On my way to F&M, I assumed there would be a bland homogenous campus inhabited by closed minds in the middle of nowhere.

As I walked into the cafeteria, I was slapped with the sight of diversity in not only race, but much more. In front of me laid a vast range of food choices—from the grill to KIVO, while modern Reggae chimed in the backdrop. And this was a big deal for me. I am Reggae fan, and find myself disappointed by America’s marvelous yet outdated representation of Reggae as Bob Marley. F&M was amidst various cultures. During my stay, I met Democrats, Republicans, football players, actors, hipsters, rockers, and everyone else, all whirled into one college.

Later, a student told a story that made me consider another aspect of college. She was taking courses focusing in Political Science and planning to major in it. But a professor suggested, after clear observation of her talents, a completely different course. She trustingly took the course, fell in love with it, changed her major, and is happy—thanks to his insight and consideration. I never thought I could bond with a teacher like that. And it wasn’t just her; many other students had similar relationships with their professors. That struck me as amazing. For the rest of my stay, I enjoyed F&M’s beauties.

I look for four necessary things in a college: liberal arts, culture, challenging courses, and diversity. F&M covers each of those bases and has proven to be a very unique college that has much to offer. F&M has proven to be just right for me.
