In its orbit, the position of the Moon falling between the Earth and the Sun is called 'new moon'. During solar eclipses, the Moon comes between the Earth and the Sun and blocks the light of the Sun..

So why does a solar eclipse not occur every new moon... or does it?
.. please help!!

its because the moon is not directly in front of us the moon goes in a Oval like orbit around earth and in four years it lines up perfectly between us and the Sun
