is Falling Apart!? I really need help. If you have any information to share, please do so, because I'm ready to go insane with this stupid truck...

A week and a half ago I brought my truck into the shop to have the tranny replaced. WHILE THE TRUCK WAS IN THE SHOP the thermostat went, the starter went, and now there's a weird noise coming from underneath the shifter knob (DNR knob) in the car but ONLY when I step on the brakes.

I need to know what, where and why this noise is occuring. I'm sick and tired of being screwed by this dealership claiming that these "unrelated" parts are not their problem. The shifter knob MUST connect to the tranny somehow, (and that IS their problem) so if someone can give me a lowdown on what might be wrong I would appreciate it greatly.

I can assure you the sound is not from the brakes themselves. It's a kind of a grinding/crackling sound coming directly from the center of the car, right under the shifter knob.

Please help me!
So then what the hell shifts the transmission you idiot? You couldn't possibly know what you're talking about, you can't even form a complete sentence. Just answer the question ok?
