Hi there! Please help me to clarify this issue.
Ok, so I don't really know how to act around my mother in law of 5 years.
I thought we had a good relationship but I heard from my sister-in-law (my mother in law is also her mother-in-law) that she once referred to me as "She makes milk as a cow" (i just had a baby). I was startled and somewhat offended by this remark because in person she is always so nice and polite to me and gives nothing but complements to me. So this was suprising. I also heard her saying that the trip i planned with my three children was a trip from hell...
And this was not the only time i heard her say something like this towards me. Am I being too sensitive?
When all of us were in her house (including my other sister in laws) she was acting so strange and was a bit abrubt with me. and when she comes to visit us she is always soo polite and so nice. I thought she liked me and was always honest and told her my secrets to her. I am so confused. PLease help. I am a very sensitive person but i just don't know how to handle these type of situations. How should i act.
Please dont say I should sit down and talk to her. She is not the type of person who will say things directly.

First, I dont think i can ask my husband to talk to his mother, because this is just not the way his fmaily works. they dont talk about this "little" things.
second, i am not compaining at all. may be i should rephrase myself and ask
"how would you feel if you were in my situation" hearing all these things about you. i will not be able to talk directly with her. this is just not possible. there are different people and different situations. sitting down and confronting is not the only "mature" way.
