my bike squeaks really badly and it makes a horrible noise... I know that I have to oli it or something but im not sure quite what to do...? Could you tell me...?
it squeaks when i brake

Check if the squeaks are heard with or without pedalling the bike

If the squeaks are heard without pedalling the bike, it has got nothing to do with the pedals, the cranks and its bearings. So lubricate the wheel hub bearings, the chain and sprocket

Usually its heard when pedalling, and the bottom bracket bearings are the more likely ones that needs lubrication with oil or grease (depending on the design). The pedals bearings are next, and these need to be greased

Never use penetrating oil like WD40 for lubrication (permanent damage to bearings can be the result). WD40 and the likes can only be used to help remove rust/dirtied oil/grease

I agree about not using WD40 as a lubricant, try and oil all moving, mechanical parts (except brake blocks) with 3 in 1 oil. I rub WD 40 over chrome and things like spokes to help prevent rust, but not as a lubricant.

Turn it up-side down and turn the pedals round. Have a really good look and see what is rubbing against what. You may need to bend something to stop the squeak. It may be the break pads rubbing against the wheel, bend them back. If not, you will have to take it to a cycle shop to be looked over.

Probably just dirty wheel rims.

Clean the rims, dry them and then clean them with mineral spirits or similar.
How old are the brake pads? You might need a new pair because they dry out after a couple of years.

well it depends where is is squeaking from, ie when you pedal? when you brake? all the time? or just oil all moving parts like the bearings ect
