Please help me with my son. For a few months now my son says his arms go numb and he can't feel anything and occasionally hurt when they go numb.
Lately it has been more than his arms, he said he gets this feeling in his whole body.
He came home from school today looking like he wasn't feeling well my husband said, and he said it feels like his whole body went numb, he said it started in his last hour class and got worse. He said he feels numb all over and can't feel anything, he can't even feel the phone next to his ear. (I am at work and he was talking to me on the phone).
This happens probably 2-3 times a week. I am very very worried about him, I called the doctors office and they can't get him in until tomorrow morning but told me to take him to urgent care or the er if I feel I need to until then.
What could be going on? I am so scared and worried.

If it helps my son also says that ever few minutes he gets this pulse like pain that shoots through his body. When he gets like this it ususally lasts a few minutes to maybe an hour at most. There isnt anything that he can think of that causes this that he is doing. Like today he was just sitting at his desk at school and it started. This was about an hour and a half ago that this began today.

Well, I am taking him to the doctor this morning. He isnt any better or worse.
I had him squeeze my hands yesterday and he said it hurt from the wrist down to his hands and didn't have very much strength in his hands when he did that. Any clue?
Please help anyone I am so scared!

sorry for what you are dealing with. getting a referral to a good neurologist may help to pin down the problem, along with an MRI(with contrast) of his spine, espescially the c spine and the brain too. since you simply don;t know yet,its best to get that look into all possible areas that could create this type of issue. since he isn;t complaining of anything within his head area, the most likely area of involvement would be the c spine, according to what you have described here(its the way the nerves run from the c spine down) unfortunetly any real Dx can take some time and testing to finally get to the right answers. how old is your son?

please keep me posted on what you find out,K? good luck, FB

I took him to the doctor and he said it was stress related.
He said that total body numbness is not neurological and in children he said it is anxiety and stress related and is sometimes related to hyperventilation in children. He looked back to a visit I brought my son in September with stomach related problems that was a swollen lymph node in his stomach and spicy or greasy foods really irritate his stomach and he has to take antacids sometimes.
The doctor said for him to take a Tylenol or Advil if he feels really uncomfortable but nothing else. I really trust this doctor, he has never steered me wrong regarding my children and he genuinely cares so I trust his diagnosis.
I gave him a Tylenol about 30 minutes ago and he said his back was hurting. Earlier today at the doctor before the doctor came in he said when he moves his neck he gets a pain down his spine but him and me both being nervous and scared we both forgot to tell the doctor this too. He goes to the chiropractor sometimes for his knees, his kneecaps are out of place and have to constantly be readjusted. I tried to get him just to relax because he on the verge of a panic attack right now, he keeps pacing and saying he feels like something bad is going to happen and he's scared. Earlier also he was lying down on his stomach and said he felt like he blacked out for a minute and came to like he went to sleep and woke back up without being tired.
The doctor ordered a finger prick blood test and said they needed to run some tests but didn't say what for. The nurse who took the blood said the tests would be back today but they never called today. Is that bad or the test results didn't come back yet? They do everything right there in the office so they don't usually send the labs out for their blood testing. What could they be testing for with a finger prick blood test?
