Please I need some Help!!

For the past 10 years I have drank 12-24 beers a day atleast 5 days a week.
Two days a week, I would have nothing.

For the past 6 months I have been drinking every night. I want to stop but afraid that I will get sick from Detoxing.

The thing is that I have nobody. I am alone, unemployed and I have no money. I NEED to do this on my own but don't know how.

Should I try to cut down on a schedule? I know this is dangerous, but I really have nowhere to turn. I know this sounRAB pretty sad.

I really have nowhere and nobody.

Thanks for all the great worlRAB.
I am not sure about a doctor, but right now. I am worried about tonight?
What should I do?

Hey,

Well, first of all.. I don't feel comfortable giving you advice that could potentially cause any danger to you.

The best advice I could give is at least put a call into a medical facility and get some advice from them. I just want you safe and sound.

Keep posting okay!!!!!!

Mate....now you've found your way to here you have plenty of people who will support you and give advice. With alcohol......thats not my DOC....I would ask you if you can go see a dr who can prescribe you something to help with the wRAB or push you in the right direction to talk to someone who can help. Its not advisable to go CT without some form of support bearing in mind the amount you've been drinking.
Know that now you are not alone. That you know you have a problem and that you want to start addressing this is a huge step forward. Congratulate yourself for that and start on your journey to a new...much improved ...life.
Welcome poppit.......vent all you want cause we will listen.

Thank you very much for answering me.
I am going to call a place tommrow. Today, I am just going to ride it out. I might have a beer or two, but so far I don't feel any cravings or anything? I last drank over 24 hours ago.
Im kind of scared though. I don't want to have withdrawals that can kill me. I am freaked out about that.

Thanks again for the support yesterday. I ended up having 2 beers last night. One at 10 PM and one at 11pm and then I went to bed. I had not shakes or sweats.

I was wondering? When does the shakes come? 24hours, 36 or 48? or even after? Thanks again for any help givin.

Hi Smithfield75 and welcome!
I would drink like that. I'd drink at least 6-8 beers a night, every night. I didn't take a day off! But, I did get sober for 10 yrs. thru 12 step program. I am now trying to quit opiates, I have 24 hrs. today. I'd take Lugar22 suggestion and go see your doctor or a doctor and tell him you want to quit drinking and tell the doc how much and how often you are drinking. Alcohol is not the type of thing to quit cold turkey. But you aren't alone! Is there a clinic where you live, a walk-in that you could get to for some help? Hang in there and keep me posted

Thank you all. I do have a question though. Last Christmas I was sick with the flu for 5 days and didn't have one drink. I was sick from the flu, but felt now withdrawals. Is that normal?
I really can't see a doctor because I have been misplaced because of a hurricane and I am all alone.
REading all this is making me so nervous! Should I just keep on drinking.

Welcome,

You no longer have nobody! You have us.

First and foremost I am very sorry to hear about the situation you are in. It seriously breaks my heart! Then on top of everything you were misplaced by a hurricane? My goodness... No pun intended but when it rains it pours.

First of all. From what I have learned is that quitting drinking after a person consumes as much as you do it can be very dangerous. Being you were misplaced because of the hurricane should mean there should be some state assistance or something. I am not sure where you are from.

Just be careful and keep posting. You no longer have to be alone. We are here for you!

You will be in my thoughts and prayers along with the rest of the gang on here. I'm Secrets, nice to meet you!

YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so proud of you! Good job buddy! I was thinking about you and hoping you were doing okay.

I do not have the answer to your questions and booze is not my DOC.... however, others may have those answers for you.

Me, I am here for support and frienRABhip! I am here for you!!!

Keep us posted!

Mine did not start for a few days, after the alcohol in my body got to a level where it needed more. It's different for everybody. I hope you can get to see a doctor...how are you doing today? Good for you, asking for help! We can't do this alone, we need each other. One addict helping another. That's how it works. My drug of choice was always alcohol, until I discovered Vicodin! Now I have to deal with that, and I'm on day 2. With alcohol withdrawal, I sweated a lot, was jumping out of my skin, (a lot like I'm doing now, my body cannot tell the difference between alcohol and other drugs) the jitters, sick, but my doctor put me on Librium or Lithium (I don't remeraber which) to help with detox. Hope this helps. Take care!
