My 7 month old is very congested, and we bought a Humidifier before the summer, and then we removed it from our bedroom and forgot to take out the water from the filter & well the Humidifier. I am worried about bacteria build up or mold ( I am very sick myself, I can't smell or taste anything ) but my boyfriend said the filter from the Humidifier is perfectly fine. It's too late to go to any stores right now, could I just thoroughly clean the Humidifier & should I put boiled water in it? not just tap water? it's a cool Humidifier not a hot one. My boyfriend said it doesn't matter, but I just read that stuff in tap water can irritate your babies lungs etc.
I don't know what to do!!! I feel so awful for my son, he can't even breathe out of his nose & his eyes are puffy & leaky (I went to the doctors for eye drops to help) but by then he wasn't so stuffed up, now he got worse & he's all congested.
