amazing nothingness

The person I'm living with said that he has had muscle aches and a headache today. He has developed a cough over the past few hours and got really tired all of a sudden. He took his temperature a couple of times and it was normal. The first time it was 98.8. Oh yeah and he said his eyes hurt. Could this be the start of the flu? And if so, how can I avoid getting sick if I sleep next to him and have no other choice?
