I got a Betta from Walmart. I have had him for about two months. I have him in a two gallon tank of water with a heater which I usually keep between 75 and 80. I feed him bloodworms and add a half a teaspoon to his water. I was doing 25% water changes every four days and add some Nutrafin to the water. Suddenly, I noticed his fins are all clamping up together. The ones on top look like they lost the color completly! So, I went to the store and bought Jungle Fungus Clear Tank Buddies, calculated the correct dose and added it to his water. He looked like he was doing a bit better but today I had to put him with some of his water from the tank to another bowl so I could clean out the entire tank (two gallon). After scrubbing up everything I put the heater back in and had to wait forever for it to heat the water up. So, in the meantime the water I had the Betta in temporarily was getting really cold. So, I quickly transfered him to the new water at about 68 degrees (still have heater on to get to warmer water) because it felt warmer than the other water. So, upon transfering him I noticed his body (he is normally blue) started looking red and he has been hiding in a castle in the tank which he NEVER did before. He looks very sick and fins look worse. In this fresh clean tank I washed everything really good, added new gravel that I rinsed thoroughly, added Nutrafin, and added Fungus Clear, and added a rounded teaspoon of aquarium salt (the box said that for disease). He looks sick, hiding and I am really trying to figure out what to do here ...thanks in advance!!!

Well theres a couple things. bettas are natorious for being very simple to take care of. You dont need a tank and all these chemicals. They dont even need heaters! All the chemicals you put into the tank can stress the fish and all the temp changes can shock him a little. When you clean the tank out and scrub it are you using soap? BECAUSE DO NOT EVER USE SOAP IN YOUR FISH TANK! Also when you took all the water out of the tank that is bad. It messes up the ammonia level. Its good to always have some dirty water in the tank. My grandma has had her betta fish i got her sitting in a goldfish bowl with just a single plant in there. its fed once a day and water changes once a week. It is now 6 years old!
