Unlike VIN numbers, frame numbers don't really tell you anything. The first group of digits is just the number Suzuki assigned to that model, and it does not change over the life of the model. It's just a model code.
The second group of numbers is a serial number. Each year of production has number where production starts so you can use records of each model year's range of numbers to find out the model year.
So, basically, all the frame number tells you is what you already know.
A VIN, on the other hand, will tell you the make, model year, model, country of origin, factory where it was built, what engine displacement was in it, how many cylinders, if it was a 2 stroke or a 4 stroke, etc, for any vehicle.
