Firstly, the behaviorism theory was done by a theorist called Skinner, while the Innatism was proposed by Noam Chomsky. Although Skinner believes that learning language is in the same way as learning any other type of behavior, Chomsky argues that it is not because it is too complex to be taught. Instead, Skinner strongly thinks that children learn language through stimulus, response and reinforcement; these three processes come actually through interacting with adults. However, the innatist view of language announces that language acquisition is something which happens naturally by using language acquisition device and universal grammar. In fact, parents in Chomsky’s view do not need to train their children to improve language because they will lean anyway. Otherwis, Skinner believes that children are passive which means that the social environment takes full responsibility for development. Unlike Innatism theory, Skinner thinks learning and development are identical.
