i have pretty severe acne on my face back and chest.

i dont want to take acutan due to the side affects but what about Bruunhause or Benzaclin? has ANYONE tried either of these which one works, i dont really have a regamine besides washing my face with murad soap.

I don't know what these products are, but topical treatments never help much with severe acne.

Side effects of Accutane aren't _that_ bad. I mean, I felt great when taking it, seeing all the acne disappear!

On the other hand, with what I know now, I wouldn't take it again. Not because it's so harsh, but because I've found alternative methoRAB that even work better (at least for me).

I have done 2 courses of accutane and it completely cleared me up, but the acne always came back. The side effects were minimal- my skin was very dry, but i could handle it. In between the accutane courses and now I am using benzaclin and it doesn't seem very strong to me. I actually can't tell if it does anything at all.. I have found that tazorac gel is more effective. hope that helps!

My Son's dermatologist has never encountered one case of depression in his 20 + years of prescribing accutane, he said.

He thinks this urban legend is due to kiRAB (or adults) being extremely depressed to start with, before even beginning accutane, because of their appearance from acne... and how other people view them... and the hurtfulness from name calling and teasing. You can read here on the board all the folks that do not have a social life and rarely leave the house because of their acne.

And you can also read from these folks that accutane changed their lives dramatically for the better as they no longer felt alienated from the rest of the world due to their acne.

My son has been on accutane for nearly 10 weeks now... and not one indication of depression or anxiety... he hasn't changed a bit. He's looking real good right now. I can't wait until Christmas when he gets to stop.

I have a nephew who took it without any depression issues... and he would be the one to have these issues as he can be dramatic at times... :D

Anyway... I couldn't find anything on the internet to indicate that accutane really does cause depression... it's an urban legend as far as I can tell.

The biggest concern regarding accutane is for women that are sexually active and have the possibility of getting prenant as accutane will cause nasty birth defects if you are pregnant wile taking accutane. There are no prenancy issues after you have stopped your accutane treatment.

The best solution is to talk to your Dermatologist.

Good luck to you. :)

It's more like a lifestyle with some supplements: almost no sugar, no chocolate (it makes me break out everytime!), almost no saturated fats (haraburger stuff and such), limit alcohol consumption, eat lot of fruit/vegetables. This corabined with Omega-3 (about 3g a day) and Zinc (about 50 mg a day) supplements.

My zinc pills have Vit A and B5 added because they help absorb and transport the zinc better. Important note: I take the biological form of zinc (L-5-oxo-proline), which is loaRAB better than other forms of zinc. You have to take about 2mg of copper, because high intake of zinc will give you a copper deficiency.

Omega-3 does A LOT for me. But it's important you keep your diet healthy, because if you eat too much saturated fats (= everything that tastes great like cookies, haraburgers, sweets, pizza, fries, ...), the Omega-3 essential oil will not be absorbed and it won't do anything.

Anyway, this method works absolutely great for me, but everyone is different, so it may not work for you. Acne is a very complex disease with many factors that influence it. So I can only speak for myself and hope it works for someone else. Btw, the benificial effects of zinc on acne have been scientifically proven.

What side effects...? Most seem to be urban legend. Maybe if you disclosed the side effects you are worried about, others can share with you what they have found to be true and false.

Best of luck. :)

you said you found other stuff that works better...well can you tell me what it is and is it topical or a med?

Thank you all so much i have taken it all into consideration, and im definitly going to start making changes in waht i eat.

thanks again.
