Playstation Online ID?

I wanna change my Online ID on Playstation 3. I know I can't. However, am I able to delete it altogether and start again, using the same email address, card/personal details? I appreciate that I'll lose all progress on my games etc. Will it delete all my PES 2009 edit data, COD4 progress and one player progress on other games?
 
I am afraid you will lose progress, why would you want to change it anyway? my ps3 ID name sucks but i cope well with it, maybe you should as well.

You will not lose any offline data (e.g. FIFA create a player, or Cod4 singleplayer intel) but anything that is directly linked to your account will be lost (e.g. levels/challenges/prestiges) for online games (so you will have to start again for the online games). Not only this, but any games you have bought off PSN will not be available to download for the new account.
