Playing Civilization IV LAN game.?

I'm trying to Play Civilization IV with my brother. LAN game. now, I have the warlords and he has the original. I know that technically we have to have the same version, but does anyone know if there's a way we can play without having to BUY a game? some way around the system?
P.S, we both use Macintosh.
