Planning on purchasing a 1993 Mazda 626....?

Basically I am just wondering if the engine set up is the same as a MX-6 model. I am looking to purchase a couple of small upgrades for performance on the 626, but there doesn't seem to be any vendors that are selling the products that I am looking for. However, the MX-6 has things that are on my product list, so if I can use the products from the MX-6 for the 626, I surely would do that. From the research I have conducted, I haven't been able to come to a clear conclusion on whether or not the motors are the same. If anyone could help me out, I would appreciate it. Also, if there are any vendors that have performance parts for the 626 that you know of, please go ahead an list them.
