Planning on going back to cricket

I have been with Tmobile for about 2 years now. But i am thinking about going back to cricket soon. Im wanna know what would be the best phone to get for around 175 not one of their base phones. I really want the env but the ones i see for sale on here going for 200, so i think i might wait a while for that one(unless sumone could cut me a deal).

Any ideas anyone?

cricket has crappy phones they sale. your best bet is to buy one and flash it, or buy a flashed one. i have 2-3 env's for sale, but over 200 each.

you need to decide whether you just want a nice phone, or a pocketpc, or what. env is worthless except for texting. i use a vx8550 because i like the look and media player. i will have a ppc-6700 for sale this week probably.

:P i love the env, but i like switching phones a lot. i sold a used enV the other day for 270 bucks for cricket. due to the price of cricket phones, people are willing to pay a ton for flashed phones.

no. cricket has a range of phones. some are more basic (read CHEAP). others are nicer. you may not like the phones, but that doesn't make them crappy.

OP: if you like the features on the enV cricket doesn't really have anything comparable. the M1000/Lingo will be out soon (should be ~200) but it lacks MP3/media card and the camera will be lower quality. If you don't care about the QWERTY flip open keyboard, i'd recommend Nokia 6275i right now. 2MP camera, MicroSD support up to 2GB, MP3 Player, Java support so you can run cool apps like gmail, google maps, opera mini browser, etc.. and it looks really slick.

Simple, the only decent phone cricket has is the nokia 6275i. We've been over this before. Why do people spend their time flashing verizon/sprint phones to cricket? Because they are better quality, and cheaper.

I'll take a ppc-6700, 6800, enV, anything over a $299.99 motorola razr v3c.

Considering I have the Krzr and like it, i'd say Cricket does has many dynamics of phones both inexpensive and expensive.

Personally I don't like the 6275i, but thats just me, and I don't care for the M1000 either...

Plus aren't you a mod, you should't *talk* bad about Crickets phones if you are a mod here, you should be unbais??

QFT:

of course this thread will probably disappear now and you'll probably be banned by Isriam's itchty trigger finger.

For what it is the K323 is actually a really solid phone (even supports phone to phone transfers over bluetooth). as is the SLVR.

1. Where do you get that I am biased? I have been in the telecom industry for 10 years. I know what a phone should and shouldn't do. I was a hanRABet tester for Cingular for 2 years. I have owned and used many many cell phones. It is my opinion that Cricket offers a poor list of hanRABets. Usually ones you can find for less than 100 bucks on other "contract" carriers.

2. How can you say the SLVR is a good phone? I'm not talking "it makes calls and has bluetooth", I'm talking better than the 59.99 phone or free phone you get from other carriers.

Compare some GSM phones to the CDMA stuff Cricket carries and you'll be amazed. Why do you think we all browse this forum? So we can make other phones that are better than what cricket offers, work on cricket. GSM has had 2-3mp and higher camera phones out for years. Why do you think the Nokia CDMA hanRABets are so great? Because they have a lot of practice making great GSM hanRABets.

That's a text message every 4 and a half minutes. Also, that's saying you're up 24 hours a day sending text messages. If you're only sending text messages 12 out of the 24 hours, then you send a text message ever 2 minutes! :bulging: :silly:

That's funny I went online to see what i could get in the way of a new phone from t-mobile. well it turns out i'm not eligible for a contract extension and the cheapest phone was... $159.99!!! OMG! and to do an insurance claim on my phone is going to be like $130!!! and i pay $6 a month for insurance!!!

Eat-me

Simple as you and I are both aware, Cricket sells a wide variety of phones both inexpensive and expensive, meant to tailer to their current customer base as well as others, and we both know because of "contracts" certain phones are normally sold for less. All we can hope for is Isiram realizes he's entitled to his opinion BUT as a MOD, it doesn't make sense to knock down the Carrier of the forum you're moderating, and he/she should be unbiased incase their are arguments betweens others.....

My personal reason for flashing phones is that they're less expensive than the ones Cricket sells. Cricket has a good selection, but the prices seem absurd. But, I do like the phones, and that's why I've flashed two Amp'd RAZRs and a Sprint KRZR.

I got a flashed phone for a reason, Not because i didn't like Cricket's line up of hanRABets, I liked my V3c alot. But because i needed* a smartphone. I can do text messaging, Internet and scheduling alot easier with this (the Q), If i didn't have the need for a QWERTY Keyboard then i would use something like the V3c, K1m or maybe even the Snap.

*needed is not really the word, i think the word "really wanted" comes to mind, the guy who did my ESN at the cricket store was impressed though :p

Lol, funnnily enough after all the work to get my Q working, im now bored with the phone. I went and bought a verizon inpulse V3m and flashed it to alltel then cricket. Working wap mms and brew, i just missed my razr alot.

back on topic..
OP: what are the features you are looking for? you said you liked the enV, is it for the texting or what? You're not going to find anything comparable to it from cricket, and most of the PDA phones (ppc6700, etc..) that you can make work with the same features are going to be more expensive(and bigger!).
if you don't care about the texting or MP3 and don't mid dropping down in picture quality, the K323 is 159.99 after the $20 instant rebate online (and most markets have the same promo in store right now), and you'll get the first month of service free. It takes decent pictures and supports phone to phone bluetooth file transfers.
otherwise try to find a deal on the enV if that has the features you want since yu can get MMS and WAP funtionality going on it.
