Pixar should make a CGI Super Mario Bros. movie.

I was thinking maybe Pixar and Disney should get the rights from Nintendo to make a feature length CGI animated movie based on the Super Mario Bros. games, it can erase the memories of the original movie and could make an interesting CGI animated franchise.

Except that I doubt that any Sonic the Hedgehog plot could ever be as deep and intricate as that of The Incredibles.

A CGI Super Mario Bros. movie sounds like a good idea to me, although I personally don't care which studio produces it as long as it doesn't blow as hard as that crappy live action movie.

Why? Why would they do this? Pixar's genius is they use their own original concepts and create true animated classics. You can't honestly expect them to take a pre-existing franchise and produce the same results.

I don't think a Sonic film would be a good idea, especially if SEGA did the story.

A Super Mario Bros. CGI movie would be interesting.

This is a completely pointless thread. One person's random "what-if" fantasy isn't worth a topic of its own. There's no sign that such a thing could ever possibly happen.

See, this is the very epitome of nonsensical fanboyisms. Pixar doesn't "need" to make a movie based on ANY existing property, and if it did, it wouldn't be something as obscure and specific as Sonic the freaking Hedgehog. You have no idea what a limited fanbase it actually has.

Pixar states on their website that they don't accept ideas from outside sources. All of them are done within the company and are based on their own ideas.

But what in Sam Hill happened to those animation projects Nintendo announced years ago?

Disney's still doing their own computer animated movies. I mean, Meet the Robinsons came out just a little while ago.

If any studio were to develop movies based on video game franchises, I'd imagine it would be Imagi, who made the recent TMNT movie. They did TMNT and I heard somewhere that they'll be doing a Battle of the Planets movie next. So, it seems that they're interested in taking on outside properties and they're interested in doing action/adventure oriented projects. Just the impression I get, though.

This reminds me of that "Mushroom Kingdom Hearts" joke game EGM mentioned for April Fools day a couple of months back. In other words, something that would only get into the rumor/never going to happen pretty much ever catergory. I mean I think it would be a pretty interesting idea to see Pixar animation in a feature length film for Mario or other video game characters but you know it's never going to happen. Pixar is making enough money as it is (despite Ratouille not being the finical success of some of the other Pixar movies's opening weekends) to not need Nintendo's license to make a game. And Nintendo certainly dosen't need licensing from Disney/Pixar for anything. I think a more logical thing would be say a Pixar team based story on a Square Enix project with the whole Kingdom hearts collab. I mean a Final Fantasy PIxar movie would certianly be better then Spirits Within and at least the companies have a record of working for each other so you know it's at least more feesable.

Seconded. That would be pretty hard to get wrong. (As long as Uwe Boll stays away from it.) Although I said the same thing about Metroid... which I actually think would make a good cartoon in the MTV Spider-Man animation style.

Wouldn't mind seeing Mario. Or Sonic. The only trouble is, it seems like you'd do best to stay as close as possible to the old games, but how much plot can you get from there?
