pins and needles in my right thumb

last friday i was writing in school and i got a pins and needles feeling in my right thumb. it was really bugging me but it eventually went away.
today (monday), i was writing again and i could feel it.
i know it's not carpal tunnel because my aunt (who is a doctor) looked at my hand and did little mini tests.
it seems to go away after a few hours and writing triggers it.
does anyone know what it is? cause it is really bugging me.
 
Sounds like a pinched nerve. Play video games alot? Sports injury? Are you holding your pen too tightly?

Some people get "blackberry thumb" from texting too much.
