PIN Locked to RIM

The reason why they will not release those pins is because those units are MOST LIKELY pre-production units that are not up to RIM or Rogers' standards and that should have MOST LIKELY :P been returned to rim after the testing phase was done and the devices were beginning to ship

Ill take that as a compliment (?) thanks

That's totally a compliment. It's good to have someone from Rogers who can help us. I'm sure that there are several of us who want to stick a fork in our eyes when we call customer service.

If all the CSR's had your knowledge there would be less yelling.

Thanks for the links I've already started looking at them. Do you ever sell anything?

Usually not but I am selling a Flip 8220 at the moment.
I usually just keep my phones but i have an extra flip so yeah lol.

Thanks again for the compliment i try to do my best

I have a quick question that i'm hoping ranxoren can answer!?

I have an 8830 World Edition that i used on the Sprint Network (CDMA) and bought a new 8330 (Curve) e) the 8830 is unlocked for any GSM network. I was wondering if once i take the device out of my contract could Sprint block my PIN so it is not used anywhere else?

No idea how Sprint operates but if they have any reason to want to block your PIN yes they can request RIM to do so through their servers.

NO IDEA how sprint operates lol sorry.
But youll get more answers if you post here: http://forums.pinstack.com/forumdisplay.php?f=66

I'm pretty sure that people who have the PIN locked devices are just using them as straight phones no data. From what I've seen with individuals they want a BB they just don't want to pay for data for whatever reason. I know if you try to buy a BOLD with no data plan on it the price is well over $250. I paid $250 for mine because I have a 1 gig data plan. I had one guy email me about the BOLD I had with the locked PIN wanting to buy it for testing purposes that didn't require data.

From my experience - a BB is only fun when it's fully operational.

PIN locked BBs are used by the following people :

some theme builders, App developers : they dont care if data is working or not they wont even have a phone number linked to it.

people that just want it to look cool

people that just want the organizer/phone part of it

Or people that know how to get them working, and want them cheap.

Anyone selling?

I sold the one I had already for $250 CAD. I was up front about the PIN to the buyer. I heard one of my IT guys saying you could flash the phone or something like that to use a different IMEI and PIN.

On the topic of selling phones - I'm sure that we've all heard from someone else how they received a message from a buyer who wants you to ship the phone to Nigeria. Is there any danger in doing that?
