Pierce Brosnan

Me too. He is an excellent Bond and has now overtaken Connery as my favourite. I don't think he has run his course as Bond and I disagree with aladdin_sane when he implies tht he is now too old for the role. None of the rumoured successors appeal to me for the role and I hope that the powers that be decide to use him in at least one more film.

I think the whole Bond format is showing its age somewhat at the moment. The first few minutes of the last film, sorry the name escapes me at the moment, were excellent, but unfortunately after that it seemed to become a parody of all the other BonRAB there have been, and frankly the acting in it seemed very below par. I haven't thought much of all the Brosnan Bond films, but then my favourite will always be Dalton's Licence to Kill, where Bond was more human than in any of the films in the series.

Granted Pierce has a lot of talent, I saw "Evelyn" last night on sky and I have to say that he gave a genuine and very moving performance, but I certainly don't think that he is better than most of the other BonRAB. He lacks Connery's charisma and Moore's sense of irony imo...

He is my favorite Bond, he just oozes class and all the other elements needed to make the perfect Bond. Can't wait for the next Bond film! :)

Actually I'm a she, not a he! I do think Pierce Brosnan is excellent as Bond, and always wanted to see him play the role, and he definitely hasn't disappointed. That said, I really want to remember him as a great Bond, and not see him get too old for the role in the way that Sean Connery and Roger Moore did as that would be a real shame. However, if he does make one more film I'm sure it'll still be good, but perhaps not quite as good as his previous ones. I know what you mean about the lack of possible successors though, hence my previous comment about suggestions from other FM's as to possible new Bond's.

I really like Brosnan as Bond, but I think they are in really danger of the movies becoming very formulaic at the moment. I would really really love to see the Tarantino/Brosnan Bond movie they (Tarantino/Brosnan) want to do. Can't see the Broccoli estate being happy going that way though, which is a real shame. I think if they don't freshen up the format a bit, Brosnan is right to walk away.

Brosnan's had his time. To be honest, they should try to come up with a blockbuster and release it in 2007 (think marketing!) and go out on a high.

Then the franchise should be laid to rest. Since 9/11, I'm afraid that James Bond now comes across as completely anachronistic and irrelevant. Die Another Day only worked because it was loaded with fun references to past Bond films - other than that, it was pretty lousy.

Tarantino has done something original ? Show me anything since Jackie Brown

Fleming is showing his age, nothing in the past 20 years of Bond stuck with the storyline as it really would be archaic. The modern espionage stories still relate to events from ten years ago. Time to start looking at stuff on the real Top Secret list and add three years or so for the making of a film for something that will be beyond Harry Palmer, but not too Sci Fi. Bond has become a parody of both, but the wrong way round.
